BORRAJA AND ITS PROPERTIES



BORRAJA (Borago officinalis L.), leaves-flowers
Traditional Uses:
A) internal use: fever, cystitis, respiratory diseases (cough, colds, bronchitis, sore throat) and menstrual pains.
The infusion is prepared with 1 tablespoon of leaves and / or flowers for 1 liter of freshly boiled water: drink 1 cup 3 times a day.

B) external use: skin conditions (eczema and dermatitis). Use the same infusion in washes or poultice. Effects: anti-inflammatory, depurative (1), diaphoretic (2), diuretic (3).
Precautions: Do not use orally during pregnancy. Do not administer for prolonged periods of time or very concentrated infusions. Contraindicated in neoplasias and liver diseases.
Other antecedents: their uses are endorsed only by tradition.

1 Cleanses blood and other body fluids from impurities. 
2 Sudorific, stimulates perspiration.
3 It promotes and increases the production of urine.
